The herdsmen on Wednesday reportedly attacked the Igangan community of Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo state.
This attack happened few days after the Commandant of the Oyo State Security Network Agency otherwise called Amotekun, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd.), declared that the Oke Ogun and Ibarapa zone of the state was safe for residents.
There have been reported cases of killings, rape, maiming and massive destruction of farmlands and properties by herdsmen . Among them were Mr Akinlotan , Mr Ajibade Adebayo and Mrs Ajoke Adebayo who were attacked and killed in their farms with cuts over their bodies.
“This heralded a crisis which spurred a Yoruba rights activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Sunday Igboho, to issue a quit notice to the Seriki Fulani of Igangan, Salihu Abdukadir, and all killer herders in Ibarapaland recently.”
However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo Command, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi and some residents of the community reported that there were marks of violence on their bodies.
The families of the deceased and the community did not allow the police to put their remains in the morgue as they demanded for the immediate release of their bodies in order for them to be buried due to their horrific cause of death.
They were committed to the earth on Wednesday night by family members and other sympathisers in Igangan community.
