This is my third money ritual attempt ―Prophet

THE Kogi state command of the Nigerian Police on Monday paraded a Prophet, Olusegun Otaro, and two others over the killing of a commercial sex worker simply identified as Mercy Moses, for money ritual.

The 45 years old prophet with his church, The Voice of Canaan Temple C&S Aladura Church, Ozuri, said his latest act was the third time he was involved in money rituals.

According to him, the first two attempts, which made him to exhume corpses from cemetery and cut the needed parts of their bodies didn’t work for him.

He said he expected to make at least N2.5 million from the latest attempt which led to the murder of Mercy.

He told newsmen at the police headquarters, Lokoja that he connived with three other members of his church to commit the crime after they were told to bring the head, palm and leg of a lady.

Otaro said it was the quest for getting rich quick that made him venture into money rituals as he could not wait for God’s time to be rich.

The prophet, however, said he knew that what he did was against his preaching and the word of God as he would not enter the kingdom of God.

Parading the suspects, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Aya, said the people were arrested following the disappearance of Mercy from the hotel for some days.

He said two of the suspects, Oluwasegun Samuel and Abdulmumini Yakubu, had gone to Hollywood hotel, Adavi to pick the deceased, who was plying her trade in the hotel and took her away.

However, unfortunately for the suspects, they left their telephone number with the hotel through which they were contacted when the lady could not be found.

The police image maker added that before killing the lady, two of the suspects raped her and also slept with her corpse before the body was severed.

When asked what was the motive of sleeping with dead body, the suspect said he was told that anyone that sleeps with dead body would not have an accident and die untimely.

The PPRO, however, said the people were arrested and after interrogation by the homicide detectives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the two suspects confessed to the gory details of how they were hired by the prophet to get a lady for money ritual with a promise to pay them N700,000.

The arrested suspects thereafter led the police to Uhodo also in Adavi where the remains of Moses were buried in a shallow grave where it was discovered that vital organs and head of the victim had been removed.
