There’ll be pains, but we’ll bring Nigeria back, CBN Gov assures

Yemi Cardoso, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has reassured Nigerians amidst the prevailing economic challenges, expressing confidence that the country will soon overcome its hardships.

He said, “It is a joint collaboration. There will be pains but we will get Nigeria back to where it used to be…’

Acknowledging the inevitable difficulties, Cardoso emphasised the necessity for collective efforts to restore Nigeria’s economic stability. “It is a collaborative endeavor. There may be challenges along the way, but we are committed to restoring Nigeria to its former prosperity,” stated the CBN governor.

Cardoso conveyed these sentiments during a meeting held on Friday with the Senate and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic team, addressing concerns regarding the nation’s struggling economy, widespread hunger, and the depreciation of the Naira.

Following an invitation extended by the Senate, the entire economic team under President Tinubu was summoned to appear on Friday, subsequent to the previous week’s summoning of CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso.

Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banks, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, explained that last week’s scheduled meeting with the CBN Governor had to be postponed due to Cardoso’s prior commitments at the House of Representatives.
