The value of education

EDUCATION is the ability to listen to almost anything without losing your temper or self-confidence.

In this connection, children must be taught how to think and not what to think.

Education is the progressive discovery of our own ignorance and to teach is to learn twice.

There is, therefore, the need for government to wake up to reality and address the decay of infrastructure in education in the country.

In the same vein, the private sector needs to redeem education in areas where the government is known to have made  limited success in the past.

Inadequate funding has also had an impact on the organisation and management of education at all levels.

There is a need for the reconstruction of the educational infrastructure to ensure quality learning and teaching.

The private sector and the public have lost confidence in the system as it is fraught with malpractices in admission process and administration of examinations, strikes(both by staff of institutions and students), as well as growing secret cult activities.

Successful implementation of reforms in the educational sector also depends on the availability of adequate resources, the sharing of responsibility amongst different levels of government and students participation.

Education needs to be revived as it makes a people easy to lead but difficult to drive, easy to govern but impossible to enslave.
