The spectacular rewards of leadership mastery

Jean Giraudoux said and I quote: “Only the mediocre die always at their best. Real leaders are always improving—and raising their bar on how superbly they can perform and how quickly they can move.” True leaders are never at their best because they are always raising the bar of excellence and productivity. This is what makes them stand-out. And lack of this makes those who stop when they get to where they call their best, mediocre. You want to stand-out in the midst of the earth? Then keep pushing the boundaries of excellence and productivity.

Also, over the years, I have come to find out that leaders do things that failures do not like to do, they might not like doing them, though. Leaders stay awake when failures are still changing gear in their sleep. They rise to start each day in the wee hours and they plan their day before setting out. They buy relevant books and read through them. They do not only read through them, they go ahead to apply what they learn to every aspect of their lives.

Once again, getting up early in the morning is one of the intelligent daily practices that leaders perform with acute consistency. Benjamin Franklin said: “There will be plenty of time to sleep once you are dead.” Those who are using every time they have got need to know this. Now that you are still breathing, do not waste all your time sleeping because of poverty. Remember, a little sleep and slumber will always land you in the land of the poor.

Potential unrealized turns to pain and poverty! And potential realized equally rewards with success and greatness. Also, in leadership, success is created through the performance of a few daily disciplines that stack up over time to produce achievements far beyond anything you could ever plan for. These little success habits are so easy to do each day that most people do not think they will make a difference. And so they just do not do them. This is why there are more failures than successful ones in life, leadership and business.

Success is not as hard as people wrongly think. Anyone who is determined and do the right things can become successful. Today, I have come to tell you that you can get to the extraordinary place that seemed impossible to reach when you first started a few years ago. Remember, it always seems impossible until it is done.

Many years ago, to become an author and a consultant to companies, government agencies and religious institutions—standing before men and women of influence and affluence—seemed impossible, but by engaging some small daily disciplines, here I am today, living my dreams. You too can become and do what God has deposited into your heart. You can get to the top-most possible in your field of life. Just find out some of the little success habits that your field requires and get them done every-day. Once you are able to gain mastery of what you are passionate about, one day, it will definitely reward you with success.

Many people stopped moving forward in life because in a few years they started, nothing seemed to be happening. They packed it all up, but they do not know that success in every area of life is like the process that farmers go through before harvesting. Farmers get seeds planted. They water the seeds and get the soil fertilized. Nothing seems to be happening. On the condition that a farmer stops at this stage, he or she will miss out on the coming bountiful harvest.

Every wise farmer will not give up at the stage of planting and watering. No farmer runs to the field and start digging to find vegetables. The farmer has patience and trusts the process. He or she has the faith and deep understanding that through his daily efforts, the harvest will come. And then one day, almost out of nowhere, it does! Remember, opportunities only come to those who prepare for them. Opportunities do not go to those who are not preparing and diligently expecting them. Your harvest comes, so do not quit yet.

All successful people I do know perform the same few leadership disciplines. They consistently practice the same few fundamentals, but their seemingly small, insignificant daily acts of excellence stack up over time to a best-in-class career and a world-class personal life. Which brings us to failure: failure on the other hand is just as easy to slip into. Failure is nothing more than the inevitable outcome of a few small acts of daily neglect performed consistently over time so that they take you past the point of no return.

The question is, have you been avoiding a few disciplines that success requires in your field? If yes, you are unknowingly slipping into failure. No one avoids things that are expected of him or her and end up being successful. Remember, process and destination—are two-sides of a coin. Take for instance; you cannot be sleeping when you are supposed to be awake, working hard and not end up being poor.

I invite you today to start playing in the field of mastery. Remember that any job performed at peak and any work done at wow-phase will lead to rewards far beyond the limited possibilities you may currently have the eyes to see in your field of purpose. Just because you cannot currently see all the success that’s available to you in this moment (in your field of purpose) does not mean it is not available to you. Success is surely ahead of those who consistently perform at peak and wow!

It is my assignment to push you to the peak of your performance. Also, it is my burning desire to start seeing you wowing your clients. When you get to this rare level in performance in your field of assignment, high finances would start flowing towards you as a clear river. Mediocre can never be rewarded with high finances. Detest a life of mediocrity today and start pursuing excellence.

 

Lastly, choose the higher road of life. Stand for leadership and excellence everywhere you find yourself. This choice will end up leading you to the place of your dreams. If these words of mine can be allowed to move from your head to your heart, your life would definitely change for the better. Till we see again, see you where successful leaders are found!
