The Plea on Oath: Of accomplishment, challenges and pain

Published by

‘’The Plea on Oath’’ is a debut exposit legal crime fiction on miscarriage of justice in our modern world, and the judiciary, executive and the legislative arms of government play in it.

The author, Lornamarie, in this twisty thriller, tells the story of a man who is focused on his profession and is performing excellently well until his private life begins to interfere with his success in all its ramifications.

The subject is a Nigerian-American professional, who is exposed with dual narratives taking place in his world.

The author, LornaMarie (Lorna Betty Ibidun Marjorie Adekaiyaoja) through the book, exposes the pressure often encountered and most often concealed by professionals in their daily life.

These experts include lawyers, doctors, architects, pharmacists, engineers, nurses, among others.

‘The Plea on Oath’ tells the story of a bright and gifted boy who grows to become a medical doctor, but how his struggles with gambling almost has an adverse effect in his life.

One is glued to the book from the beginning right to the end, as it exposes not only addiction to alcohol, drugs and gambling, but also challenges that couples face in marriage, like childlessness and the consequences in various societies.

The book also focuses on infertility in marriages and treatment through in vitro fertilization (IVF). The author uses the story to plead for a change to the current American gun law, with a hope that unfortunate stories similar to the storyline could be prevented to make the world a better place to live in.

The book touches on real life issues such as miscarriage of justice, reckless endangerment with a firearm, dealing with bereavement, corruption, racism, counselling and rehabilitation, among others. It also highlights the use of alibi, insanity, depression and poor mental state as defence during criminal trials.

It is a well known fact that the greatest dramas occur not on screens or stages, but rather in some courtrooms; these dramas are brought alive by Lornamarie.
