The menace of daylight robbers at Oja’ba market

In Ibadan metropolis, gone are the days when robberies were carried out in the dead of the night. What we experience now is frightening and in need of urgent attention by the Oyo State Police Command.

I cannot really speak of other areas, but what is being witnessed at the popular Oja’ba leaves much to be desired.

Young able bodies men have turned the market to their comfort zone where they feast on unsuspecting car owners in particular and dispossess them of their valuables. I witnessed a scene wherein a boy snatched a bag of a woman in transit.

The poor woman was driving a Toyota Muscle towards Oranyan when the boy dug his hand into her car, fled to a waiting okada and disappeared. Only God and that woman could quantify the magnitude of the loss.

I could not do anything to save the situation because I had been long warned against such. I was earlier told that those boys have their gang members lurking everywhere along the road, meaning that a good Samarian caught would only endanger himself.

Oyo State Police Command should rise up to the challenge and instruct the Divisional Police Headquarters covering the area to fortify the danger spot.
