The fundamental skill that every leader should have

Every professional always dreams of reaching higher and higher, even managerial positions, in the absolute conviction that his or her skills and personal qualities can also be adequately harnessed to lead an entire office and take it to new stages of success.

Some people even continue to work with the sole objective of getting to the top, to the highest positions in top management, as if our main day-to-day occupation were merely a stepping stone towards the conquest of ever higher, ever more prestigious social positions. In this way, people will increasingly tend to neglect (if not ignore altogether) their work and its specific characteristics, such as the qualities and skills needed to perform it in the best possible way.

In fact, those aiming to get to the top may be inclined to focus more on other kinds of qualities, on the more diplomatic, more political qualities, so to speak, thanks to which one sometimes manages to get a promotion or a prestigious position, but which on closer inspection have little to do with the true essence of the job itself.

This tendency has often generated paradoxical situations in which the bosses or managers of a company are less competent than some of their subordinates, and who owe the achievement of their position to personal skills and abilities that have nothing to do with the actual work.

This creates confusion, embarrassment, grotesque and vaguely ridiculous situations, in which perhaps the manager allows himself to be outperformed by one of his subordinates in the performance of a certain task, thus proving that he is in his position only because of his interpersonal skills.

A risk to be avoided

This does not only risk killing competence and professionalism, but also the very quality of work, irrespective of the sector to which it belongs. If they wish to pursue real growth objectives, modern societies will have to be led by leaders who are equal to the task, by competent professional leaders and managers, who know how to distinguish themselves from all other employees by the exceptional nature of their preparation, or by the quality of the work they do.

In this terribly competitive society, so irresistibly striving for ever greater material success, managers must possess very precise characteristics, elusive qualities that enable them to lead a team and at the same time do the job better than anyone else, especially in those extremely specialized sectors where personal skills are the only truly decisive factor in doing a great job.

Knowing how to make a difference

A decisive quality for any self-respecting leader is the ability to be able to make decisions quickly, rapidly, without the slightest hesitation. This was also maintained by the ancient Japanese sword masters, who always suggested to their students not to let their opponent guess any weakness, any uncertainty.

It is the same attitude that managers should also take in front of their employees, thus strengthening their own reputation and self-image. A strong and self-possessed boss is always an extra weapon for any company, because employees in turn will feel secure, in good hands and incentivized to give their best.

The presence of a good boss, in most cases, also produces visible effects in the quality of daily work. Companies led by a competent manager are distinguished above all by a certain underlying pragmatism that can be seen in the strategic choices, in the orientation of corporate communication, even in the outward appearance of an office.

Everything appears essential and orderly, without any superfluous elements. Every variable (people included) has a clear purpose, as do the (few) virtual spaces available to the company for its online communication.

This kind of pragmatism, of essentiality, can be compared to that found in the online gambling sector, and in particular within the best portals dedicated to the most entertaining games, such as online blackjack in India.

Online game catalogues encapsulate an infinity of different experiences, and each one of them has been carefully selected with the aim of satisfying a very specific need, almost always corresponding to the personal tastes of individuals. In this sense, online entertainment is no longer a mere pastime, but becomes a personalized experience of great quality, able to entertain and excite a huge number of people.

The key to success probably lies in the ability to choose what is best for oneself and for others, in the shortest possible time.
