Thailand firm makes Nigeria hub for organic fertilizer in Africa

Published by

A4S Global, a Thai agricultural technology company, is positioning itself to help transform Nigeria’s farming sector through the introduction of advanced organic fertilizer technology.

The company’s CEO, Niti Sawangsap, announced that Nigeria has been selected as A4S Global’s African headquarters during the launch of their 4Tree Ionic enhancer fertilizer in Lagos.

Despite sharing similar agricultural characteristics with Thailand – including comparable climates and predominantly small-scale farming operations – Nigeria lags significantly in agricultural development. While Thailand maintains 241 tractors per 1,000 hectares and irrigates 28% of its arable land, Nigeria operates with just 10 tractors per 1,000 hectares and irrigates less than 1% of its farmland.

The company’s 4Tree organic fertilizer promises to revolutionize farming efficiency, with one sachet reportedly equivalent to 20 bags of APK fertilizer and capable of treating three hectares of crops including rice, sugarcane, cassava, and maize.

Early adoption has shown promising results. Alhaji Ahmed Zannah, a farmer from Abuja, reported significant improvements in his maize and orchard yields along with reduced production costs after switching to the 4Tree fertilizer.

A4S Global’s Country Director, Ibiam Orji, addressed quality concerns by encouraging practical verification: “The true test of fertilizer quality lies in its results, which become evident within a week of application with 4Tree products.”

Dr. Hory John, Africa region manager, emphasized the product’s safety profile, noting its natural blend of nutrients requires no protective equipment during application.

The initiative aligns with Nigeria’s agricultural development goals, promising to enhance food security and export capabilities while reducing production costs for local farmers.
