The vice chancellor of the university, Professor Muhammad Nasir Maiturare, made this known while receiving the correspondents’ chapel executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State council, led by Mr Aideloje Sunday Ojo, in his office at the institution recently.
He explained further that the grant was the institutional-based research component of the TETFund, which would be utilised to explore potential benefits for socio-economic development of Niger State in particular and the country at large.
Professor Maiturare said the research cut across fields of sciences, technology, education and humanities in the university.
He expressed appreciation to the correspondents’ chapel leadership on the visit and assured them of the management’s readiness to sustain the collaboration with the media.
He enjoined them to always be objective in their reportorial activities as the university identified them as critical stakeholders, just as he also urged them to cooperate with the management.
In his earlier remarks, Ojo commended the initiatives of the university, particularly on research areas that would contribute immensely to the growth and development of humanity.
He assured that the correspondents chapel of the state’s NUJ was prepared to support the university by promoting its positive developments.
