Terrorism: Clergyman wants Buhari to declare state of emergency

Published by

THE President, Maranatha Ministries International and the Bishop of Maranatha Chapel worldwide, Right Reverend Samuel 1 Olumakinde Alawode has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to take a sterner action before the menace   of terrorism and Fulani herdsmen’s attacks  wreaks more havoc in the country.

Bishop Alawode made this known while addressing a press conference to mark the 25th anniversary of Maranatha Lord Cometh Ministries International, in Ibadan.

He said the 25th anniversary starts on Sunday June 2 and ends on June 9 with a series of programmes, including daily revival, three days ministers and leadership summit, for Christians in politics, business owners and  others.

Condemning: the bloodshed which has ravaged the country, Bishop Alawode said the spate of bloodshed in this nation has got to its peak. It must stop now. Blood is being shed regularly due to Islamic extremists’ terrorism, kidnapping and ritualist activities. I call upon the church of God to intensify our interception for Nigeria.

“We are pleading with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to mobilise, all our Service Chiefs and security outfit to wake up with an emergency approach to the nationa’ current security challenges. It is time to and flush out the Fulani herdsmen who are not terrorising the South West after unleashing unprecedented mayhem in northern and central Nigeria.

“The Federal Government must stop giving excuses. We don’t need talk: we need action. It is obvious that there is anti-christian and tribal agenda behind all the killings. The bloodshed must stop.”

Bishop Alawode also use  to called for the release of Leah Sharibu, “the courageous teenager still in the captivity of the Islamic terrorist group, the Book Haram, for refusing to deny her faith in Jesus Christ, the son of God. Please free Leah!.”
