Imo State House of Assembly
The imbroglio that earlier on ensued in the Imo State House of Assembly, last week, continued on Monday with the reinstatement of the impeached deputy speaker, Hon Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu.
The deputy speaker was on November 3 2021, through a resolution signed by 18 lawmakers out of 27 legislators, removed on the floor of the house.
While Hon. Amara was sacked from the exalted seat as deputy speaker, six other suspended lawmakers were recalled by the former speaker Hon Paul Emeziem.
The re-reinstatement of the deputy speaker came immediately after the impeachment of the former speaker of the House of Assembly Hon. Paul Emeziem, who had on November 3 announced the impeachment of the reinstated deputy speaker.
The House impeached the deputy speaker then without any pronouncement on his replacement.
However, after the pronouncement of his reinstatement, Iwuanyanwu had done everything humanly possible to ensure his return to the seat as deputy speaker.
Meanwhile, four members of Imo State House of Assembly of APC extraction, who were suspended on the 8th of July 2021 by Speaker Paul Emeziem, have clearly disassociated themselves and their signatures from any action to the purported impeachment of Rt. Hon. Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu as the Deputy Speaker.
The affected lawmakers included Hon. Domnic Ezerioha representing Oru West state constituency, the new speaker Hon. Kennedy Ibe for Obowo, Hon. Uche Ogbuagu-Ikeduru state constituency and Hon. Michael Njoku representing Ihitte Uboma State constituency respectively.
They completely denied their names and signatures which appeared in the documents which the former speaker Paul Emeziem was parading as evidence of 18 signatories that signed the impeachment of the deputy speaker.
They therefore, stated without equivocation that they were suspended unjustly, lucky to be reinstated after about four months, but were yet to resume office, not to talk of engaging in any form of parliamentary activity.
