Tension as masked men invade PDP meeting

Tension rose on Friday as some men in police uniform invaded the residence of a former governor of Kogi state, Ibrahim Idris, to disrupt a meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The people, who wore the police uniform, were fully armed and also wore the mask as they stormed the house located in the GRA, Lokoja, the state capital.

But they were unable to gain entrance into the building as the crowd of party members engaged them and resisted the attempt to disrupt the meeting of the party leaders.

The PDP leaders were said to have informed the military, who later stormed the area and dispersed the hooded men.

The state publicity secretary of the party, Bode Ogunmola, said the party members were surprised to see the hooded men who tried to intimidate them at the meeting of the leaders of the party.

He said, “We were at the house of the former governor of the state, Ibrahim Idris and some hooded men in police uniform came around trying to penetrate, they wanted to forcefully enter Ibro’s house.

“Of course, we stood our ground, we called for military reinforcement. They have been sent back. We stood our ground, how many people can they kill? When they saw the crowd, they were afraid. So, our people started the defence before the military came.”
