Tekoma set to rebrand Fuji music with ‘Pidgin Yoruba Fuji’ album

Many who have followed Alhaji Adewale Ayinde, popularly known as Tekoma, will never forget some of his hit tracks among 16 albums, including collaborations he has to his credit.

Tekoma, who plans to celebrate his 25 years on stage next year, spoke with Friday Treat about his plans to release his new album which, according to him, will definitely change the face of Fuji music.

Tekoma, who is known for his hit track ‘Jeje Lomo Eko Nlo’, said Fuji music lovers should enjoy new creativity and new tune to age-long Fuji music, reiterating that the album would be entitled PYF, that is, ‘Pidgin Yoruba Fuji”.

According to him, the album will be an infusion of Pidgin and Yoruba languages to enable other tribes who don’t understand Yoruba but Pidgin to listen to the inspiration messages in the yet-to-be released album.

Asked why he went silent for sometime, he said “I know fans all over the world are saying where is that Tekoma but when you want to give people what they will enjoy for life, you have to do it well.

“And because this is a new dimension to Fuji music, not the normal Fuji we hear, so I have to make sure it is very tight and loaded with inspiring messages that while changing the face of Fuji, many lives are changing for good too,” he said.

Speaking about how he felt when some top musicians like Olamide used a part of his ‘Jeje L’omo Eko n lo’ hit song in one of his songs, he said if the song wasn’t good nobody would use it or do anything with it. “At least I have started singing very early and I was the youngest Fuji musician then and I have done one or two things with all top Fuji acts in Nigeria. So, I have seen and learnt a lot. So, when people said Olamide used part of my song, I said it is not new. It is because the song is dope so why should I start shouting? I respect Olamide a lot.”
