Wrapping up the 2016 awards event for the entertainment industry, the SoundCity MVP awards event was held at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos, on December 29.
The star-studded event, hosted by ace comedian Basketmouth and on-air personality, Dotun, was an astonishingly well-put-together celebration of African music, talents and team spirit.
Tekno emerged the biggest winner of the night, hauling awards in the best digital artiste of the year; song of the year and the MVP Listeners’ Choice of the year categories for his song, Pana.
Wizkid won the best male artiste of the year and the overall artiste of the year awards, adding two awards to his already crammed shelf of recognitions.
Other artistes with impressive outing were Phyno and Olamide, who won the best collaboration of the year; Mr Eazi, who won the Soundcity MVP best new act of the year, Falz, Yemi Alade, DJ Maphorlisa, Alikiba among others.
Performances from Olamide, Humble Smith, YCee, Rekado Banks, Koker, Harrysong, Niyola and Tekno brought the night to a climatic end.
