Teenager killed in Gombe over misunderstanding between two friends

A 17-year-old boy, Buba Bappah, has allegedly been killed following a reprisal attack over a misunderstanding between two groups of friends over a girl.

According to the Command PPRO, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the issue was an offence of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide while the suspects arrested are Auwalu Isa, Ibrahim Gambo and Ali Zaki, all of Wuro Sale Village via Kumo, Akko LGA, Gombe State while others are at large.

He stated, “On 8th April 2025 at about 2000hrs, one Auwalu Isa, 22-year-old of Gamawa Village, reported at Akko Police Station that on the same date at about 1800hrs, he had a misunderstanding with Basiru Yaya, Isaka Bappa Loddo, Gida Bappa Loddo and Mohammed Bappa Loddo all of Wuro Sale Village via Kumo, Akko LGA, Gombe State over a lady.”

The suspects allegedly conspired and stoned him on the chest, causing internal injuries, he was rushed to General Hospital Kumo for treatment and was discharged after medical attention.

However, on 9th April 2025 at about 0300hrs, one Bappa Jauro, a 55-year-old of Wuro Sale Village, reported at the same station that the said Auwalu Isa, together with Ibrahim Gambo, Ali Zaki, Tori Abdul Hamid, Mallam Ahmad, Aminu Bello, Babangida Bappari, Yaya Kariya, Alhaji Ala, and Abba Abdulhamid mobilised and attacked his 17-year-old son, Buba Bappa, with sticks, hitting him on the head until he became unconscious.”

A Police team visited the crime scene and rushed the victim to General Hospital Kumo where he was confirmed dead on arrival by a Medical Doctor. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining culprits.

For the case of rape in Kaltungo, the arrested suspect is Dauda Babawuro, 34 years of Lapandintai, Kaltungo LGA on 5th April 2025 at about 1000hrs, one individual (name withheld), a resident of Kalaring, Kaltungo LGA, reported at Kaltungo Division that sometime in February 2025, that the above-mentioned suspect of Lapandintai, Kaltungo LGA, had unlawful carnal knowledge of his 17-year-old daughter (name withheld).

The victim was taken to General Hospital, Kaltungo where medical examination confirmed she was two months pregnant. The suspect was arrested and investigation is ongoing.

Also for another case of rape in Billiri, the suspect arrested is Haske Abubakar, 25 years of Bassa Village, Billiri LGA.

On 9th April 2025 at about 1500hrs, one individual (name withheld) 26 years of Bassa Village, Billiri LGA, reported that on 7th April 2025 at about 2100hrs, the above-named suspect of same address raped his 6-year-old daughter (name withheld) while she was sleeping at her grandmother’s house.

Police visited the scene, arrested the suspect, and both the victim and suspect were taken to General Hospital Kaltungo for examination. Investigation is ongoing.

Similarly, for unnatural offence, the arrested suspect is Abubakar Ya’u, 36 years old.

On 5th April 2025 at about 1600hrs, one individual (name withheld) of Wuro Biriji Quarters, Gombe, reported at Gona Police Station that on 3rd April 2025 at about 1900hrs, the above-named suspect lured his 18 years old son, (name withheld), into his room and had anal intercourse with him.

The suspect was arrested and both were taken to Specialist Hospital Gombe for medical examination while investigation continues.

For the procuration of a minor girl, the suspect arrested is Ibrahim Safiyanu alias Media Bakura.

On 4th April 2025 at about 1044hrs, one individual (name withheld) of Wuro Dole Village reported that on 2nd April 2025 at about 0600hrs, the above-named suspect lured his 17 years old daughter (name withheld), from their home to an unknown destination and allegedly had carnal knowledge of her.

The suspect and victim were both taken to Specialist Hospital, Gombe for medical tests as investigation is ongoing.

Also for defilement, the suspect arrested is John Doctor 19 years of Yeri Village.

On 8th April 2025 at about 0845hrs, one individual (name withheld) of Tanga Village, Kaltungo LGA, reported at Awak Police Station that on 5th April 2025 at about 2000hrs, the above-named suspect took his 12-year-old daughter (name withheld) to his house and defiled her.

Both suspect and victim were taken to General Hospital Kaltungo for examination and treatment while the suspect remains in custody as investigations are in progress.

Also for criminal conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property, the Command was arrested as suspects, Ahmadu Ibrahim 35 years, Tukur Musa 75 years, and Yaya Tukur 23 years while One Bull was recovered from them as exhibit.

The PPRO stated that “On 9th April 2025 at about 1630hrs, an individual (name withheld) 45 years of Panda Village, Akko LGA, reported that on 7th April 2025 around 0300hrs, One Ahmadu Ibrahim, 35 years of the same address trespassed into his residence and stole his bull valued at ₦700,000.

‘During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having conspired with Tukur Musa and Yaya Tukur – his son, they helped him to hide the bull in their compound. All suspects were arrested and the stolen bull was recovered.

“These arrests and breakthroughs are the result of sustained intelligence gathering, prompt response, and unwavering dedication by the Command’s officers.

“The Command reiterated its commitment to the protection of lives and property across the State and encouraged members of the public to continue supporting the Police by providing timely and useful information to aid in the fight against crime.”
