Technical, vocational education to assist in developing environmental development —Ogun Speaker

The Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has underscored the need for more investment in technical and vocational training for the state and by extension, the country to have the needed manpower for technological and infrastructural development.

Elemide stated this while playing host to the delegation from the Ahmaddiyyah Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria on the inauguration of Masroor International Technical College (MITC) sponsored by the International Ahmadi Architect and Engineers Association ( IAAAE) at the Assembly Complex in Abeokuta.

The Speaker lamented the dearth of skilled manpower in technical and vocational areas in the country, stressing that the Assembly has continued to partner with the executive arm in the state to resuscitate technical and vocational education to assist the built environment and the state in employment generation, development of infrastructure and human capital export.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi lauded the religious organisation for its quality contributions to the technical and vocational education of the state, saying about five members of her constituency will be sponsored through various technical and vocational trainings in the institution.

In their remarks, chairman of IAAAE, Europe, Headquarters in the United Kingdom, Sir Akram Ahmed and chairman of the association in Nigeria, Alhaji Mufadhil Bankole stated that the school will run various technical and vocational trainings in electrical installation, refrigeration and air conditioning, plumbing and pipe fitting, ICT- Computer-hardware maintenance and repair, software (full stack) and building (bricklaying, concrete, masonry and tiling), among others.
