Teachers recruitment: Oyo TESCOM reschedules CBT timetable over planned protest

The Oyo State Post Primary Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), has announced a slight readjustment in the scheduled dates/time-table of the CBT exercise for teachers’ recruitment into public secondary schools in the state, which commences next week Monday.

The chairman of the board, Pastor Akinade Alamu, who made the disclosure at a press conference on Friday evening, stated that the move was made to forestall a coincidence with a proposed nationwide protest, slated for Monday, August I.

He, therefore, announced that the new dates of the CBT exercise to be Monday, July 29 through Wednesday, August 31 against the initial arrangement, which was from Monday July 29 to August 2, noting that the examination is now going to last for three day instead of the initial five days.

According to Pastor Alamu the decision was arrived at after a tripartite meeting with all relevant stakeholders comprising the TESCOM management, UI Distance Learning Centre (DLC) CBT Centre, inter-ministerial committee, consultants, among others.

He noted that the resolve was to ensure the protection of the applicants, the facilities and every other stakeholder during the exercise.

The chairman, however, assured that all arrangements had been made, with relevant stakeholders to guarantee a hitch-free exercise, stressing that “the amendment will by no means pose any threat to the lives of the applicants.”

He also said that arrangement had been concluded to send the new review and other updates to all applicants via SMS and email, adding that the review has also been uploaded on the Oyo State government job portal.

The revised schedule time-table stated the days and subjects of the applicants as follow:

Monday: Biology, Islamic Religion Studies, Christian Religious Studies, Literature-in-English, Mathematics, French, Chemistry, Commerce and Business Studies.

Tuesday: English Language, Finance and Accounting, Government, Economic, Physics, Music, Computer Science and Guardians and Counselling.

Wednesday: Agric Science, Arabic Studies, Social Studies, Business Science and Technology/Technical Drawing,  Fine Arts, Yoruba, Geography, History, Home Economics, Food and Nutrition, and Physical Health Education.
