Mrs Adeola Adekusibe, a teacher in Osun State, on Monday, urged school owners to properly equip science laboratories to improve students’ performance in sciences.
Adekusibe made the call in a telephone interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
According to her, well-equipped laboratories will enhance students’ understanding and drastically reduce abstractness during teaching and learning process.
The teacher said that quality laboratories in various private and secondary schools would fast-track understanding of practical works or set of skills, techniques or activities.

She further advised school teachers to intensify efforts in using industrial simulation, television, experiments, group discussions, industrial decision making, directed activities related to texts as methodology strategies.
According to her, the deployment of such effective strategies in teaching and learning will encourage more students to take careers in science.
“ There is a wide variety of jobs and careers that require knowledge and application of science, from research to business and from regulation to teaching.
“Such efforts will help the nation to attain growth above average in terms of increase in technological advancement, science, industrialisation, economic growth, good agricultural practices, per capita income, among others,” she noted
