TASUED: ASSU embarks on indefinite strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), on Thursday, embarked on total and comprehensive strike.

Demands of the Union are payments of 12 months deduction to staff cooperatives; non-payment of promotion arrears to academic staff; non-payment of earned academic allowance.

This was contained in a statement signed by the union’s chairman, Dr. Bayo Akinsanya, alleging government insensitivity to the funding of the institution.

The statement reads: “Academics in TASUED wishes to inform our dear students, parents, that the strike broke for the following reasons after several pleas to make the authorities of the state government.

“All academic activities stop immediately as the strike is comprehensive and total.”
