Task Force arrests seven suspected kidnappers in Ondo

THE joint Security Task Force set up by the Ondo state government on Wednesday, arrested seven suspected kidnappers around Emure Ile in Owo Local Government Area of the state.

Parading the seven suspects at the headquarters of the  State Police Command, the Army Public Relations Officer for Owena Cantonment, Major Ojo Adenegan and the state Police Public  Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Femi Joseph said the suspects were arrested at a hideout inside Emure forest during a raid by the task force.

According to the PPRO,  six of the suspect were arrested in the early hour of Wednesday while their informant who was said to be monitoring the activities of the task force was also arrested.

He said the informant who was later apprehended by the task force while trying to get across to the other suspects was arrested with more than 12 locally made guns.

He said more than 15 daggers and cutlass were recovered from the suspects and other dangerous weapons, charms and clothing materials.

Joseph said ” at about 03:00hr today, 16/1/2019, the Joint Task Force codenamed “operation crime free” acting on a tip-off, arrested six suspected kidnappers at Emure junction via Owo where they gathered together in a suspicious manner.

“The following items were recovered from them, 16 locally made guns, 17 cutlasses, 13 knives, seven handsets and the sum of N27,820. 00 cash recovered from them.

“They also have some food items and pieces of clothing and items suspected to be charmed. They could not give a satisfactory account of their mission, even though they claimed to be coming from Kebbi state.”

Joseph assured that the suspects would be arraigned in court immediately the command concluded its investigations.
