Taraba university staff strike to end soon, says VC

The Vice Chancellor of Taraba State University, Prof. Sunday Bako on Tuesday said the university striking staff have reached almost 100% agreement with the state government to resume work.

Bako disclosed the development to journalists in his office in Jalingo.

According to the Vice Chancellor, after a successful engagement between government and the non academic staff over the weekend, he has asked the union leaders to capture their report by way of communique and present to him for vetting before onward submission to their members.

He disclosed that the university has officially reschedule the suspended exams to be continue next week Monday, 27 January 2025.

“We have reached almost all agreement with the non academic staff and we believe that they will call off their strike as well. Following the development, the university has officially reschedule the suspended exams to be continue next week Monday, 27 January 2025”.

Prof. Bako commended governor Agbu Kefas for his uncommon commitment to quick resolution of the Union’s issues.

He also thanked the ministry of Tertiary Education for the relentless efforts toward ensuring that all Union’s demand are meet for uninterrupted academic calendar.
