Taraba primaries: Sani Danladi, Mama Taraba win APC, UDP tickets

THE former acting governors of Taraba state, Sani Abubaka Danladi and Sen Aisha Jumai Alhasan, popularly known as Mama Taraba have clinched the Governorship ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and United Democratic Party (UDP) respectively.

The result of the Taraba state Governorship primary election was declared at about 12: 27 am at Fast Track Hotel in Jalingo Taraba state capital.

The chairman of the electoral committee, Sen Emmanuel Ocheji, while announcing the results of the election described the process as peaceful.

Ocheji said the governorship primary election was contested by 10 aspirants while Sani Abubaka Danladi scored 60,629, to win the other 9 aspirants.

The chairman, therefore, declared Sani Danladi as the winner of the Taraba state APC Governorship primary election, he also returned Sani as the APC flag bearer for the 2019 general election.

 

IKENYA KICKS

The second runner in the Taraba state Governorship primaries election of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Joel Danlami Ikenya condemned the Governorship primary election and called for the cancellation of the result.

While speaking to Tribune Online, Sen Ikenya said the results of the election were manipulated by the electoral committee in favour of Sani Danladi.

Ikenya who scored 11,773 to come second in the election call on the national Secretariat of the APC to constitute a credible committee led by a seating APC governor to come to Taraba and conduct a fresh primary election.

Joel Ikenya and Sani Danladi were accused yesterday by eight other APC governorship aspirants of highjacking the election process to their favour.

While speaking to Journalists in his house at new GRA in Jalingo, Sani Danladi promised to bring back peace and justice to the people of the state if elected come 2019 general election.

Sani said if there is justice in the land, there will be peace among the people. He attributed the current insecurity in the land as a result of injustices.

He also promised to reunite the aggrieved aspirants who earlier protested the election process for the success of the party at the general election.

 

MAMA TARABA WINS UDP GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

Sen Aisha Jumai Alhasan who was disqualified by All Progressive Congress (APC) to contest for Governorship election in Taraba state has won the Governorship primary election under the United Democratic Party (UDP) in Taraba state.

Alhasan popularly known as Mama Taraba quickly defected from APC to UDP shortly after she resigned as minister for women affairs and social development under president Muhamadu Buhari’s administration.

Alhasan was the only Governorship aspirant of UDP in Taraba state, the party while conducting its Governorship primary election at Shield Hotel in Jalingo adopted Jumai Alhasan as an unopposed Governorship candidate to fly the party’s flag come 2019 general election.

 

PDP ENJOYED PEACEFUL PRIMARY ELECTION

The chairman Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Taraba state chapter Hon Victor Bala Kona said the party is currently enjoying a one family relationship as the party conduct peaceful Governorship and Senate primaries in the state.

“Governor Darius Ishaku last Sunday was adopted by the party in the state as a sole governorship candidate of the party without hitches”

“PDP also conducted a senatorial primary election and returned two incumbent senators without any tension”

Nigerian Tribune while monitoring the PDP primary election gathered that the deputy minority leader at the Senate, Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha picked the southern zone senatorial ticket to return to the National Assembly.

Bwacha scored 539 to beat Jessy Ashimate who came second with 73 votes.

Sen Shuwaibu Lau representing Taraba north scored 618 to beat former senator Anthony Manzo who scored 113 to come second, while the former senator representing Taraba central Sen. Dahiru Bako won the senatorial primary election to contest for the 2019 generation.
