Taraba: Police honour officers for rejecting N8m bribe from suspected kidnappers

Published by

The Taraba State Police Command on Friday recognised and rewarded four officers for their exemplary conduct in refusing a bribe of over N8 million from suspected kidnappers.

During a ceremony held in the office of the Commissioner of Police, CP David Iloy Anomon, the officers were commended for their integrity and commitment to upholding the law.

The CP emphasized the importance of acknowledging and applauding ethical behaviour demonstrated by officers while carrying out their duties.

He highlighted the incident at the Kwanti-Napu checkpoint along the Jalingo-Yola road, where officers from the 40 PMF intercepted a Toyota Starlet carrying three passengers.

Upon conducting a thorough search, the officers discovered N8.555 million in the vehicle. Despite the substantial bribe offered by the suspects, the officers remained steadfast in their commitment to upholding the law and rejected the illicit offer.

Commissioner Anomon praised their conduct as being in line with the zero-tolerance policy on corruption advocated by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

He emphasized the significance of their action as a positive example for others within the police force to emulate.

The honoured officers, namely Inspector Difference Tih, Inspector Ngamarju Gambi, Inspector Usman Haruna, and CPL Zarudeen Mamuda, reiterated their dedication to combating corrupt practices and contributing to the growth of the Nigerian Police Force and the nation as a whole.
