Tambuwal is prudent, focus to peoples interest projects ― Sokoto PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, on Monday, described Governor Aminu Tambuwal as a prudent leader with a focus to execute peoples interest projects across the state.

A statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Hausawa, called on people to disregard any mischief commends against the Governor.

Hausawa urged people to understand the governor style of leadership and support his administration in its effort to develop the state.

” In spite of scarce resources and low federal allocations which is not more than N4.5 billion monthly, Tambuwal administration is doing his best to pay workers salary, ensure recruitments of civil servants and embarked on infrastructural projects.

” This is against the high revenue of about N13 billion received by previous administrations faced with low economic and security challenges, still had little impacts to citizens lives.

” Gov. Tambuwal had secured N3 billion to reconstruct Shehu Shagari market burnt by fire into a modernised structure in accordance with global standard practice,” he added.

Hausawa further urged citizens to disregard rumours from some groups that the market would be sold to private investors.

According to him, the reconstructed market would be handled by the Sokoto State Investment Company for increased revenue and discourage the long traditions of personalising shops by individual traders.

On the accrued donations obtained after the inferno, Hausawa explained that the government has already constituted a committee for the distribution of the money under the leadership of Alhaji Namadina Abdurrahman.

He added that the committee had membership from the Sultanate Council, Security Agencies as well as representatives of Islamic scholars, business groups and the state chamber of commerce.

The Publicity Secretary further criticised Alhaji Isa Achida, for parading himself as All Progressive Congress (APC), Sokoto State party Chairman on the ground of unresolved anomalies recorded during last party’s congress.

Hausawa enjoined Achida to be truthful in his criticisms being Nigerian citizens with legal rights to voice his concerns.

It would be recalled that APC, through the chairman, Sadiq Acida, at a press conference on Saturday appealed to the state government to reconsider its decision on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for the reconstruction and management of the Sokoto Central Market.

Acida said APC was shocked with reports that the state government was making arrangements to surrender the reconstruction and management of the market to certain financial interests outside the state.
