Tambuwal charges workers to stop rejecting posting to rural areas

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has urged the Nurses and midwifery members in the state and other civil servants to stop the habits of avoiding being posted to the rural areas to work, saying it is part of giving back to the society.

The Governor represented by the state head of service, Dr Buhari Bello Kware, stated this at the 2019 delegates conference of the state chapter of National Association of Nurses and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, held at the main Auditorium hall of Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic on Wednesday.

The governor disclosed that his administration is doing everything humanly possible to make the entire workforce of the state comfortable. He promised that efforts are in top gear to review the salaries and allowances of the Nursing profession to commensurate with their counterpart in the medical profession.

Earlier in his opening address, the outgoing State chairman of National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, Comrade Abubakar Shehu, express gratitude to the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress and all other affiliates for harmonious working relationships during his regime.

He further disclosed that the conference is a medium through which new leaders are elected to run the affairs of the association for another period of four years. He said the aim and the objective of the association are to build an edifice for the flight of its members and the progress of the association.

He commended the State Governor for setting up a committee to negotiate upward review of CONHESS to all Health workers in the state, saying both parties have agreed for upward review of CONHESS to 90% GL 07- above and GL 01-06.

Shehu, therefore, used the opportunity to appeal for maturity from members. He said, “let me, therefore, use this opportunity to appeal to the entire delegates to behave maturely so that we will have a hitch-free conference” he added.

Meanwhile, the state chapter of NANNM has reelected comrade Abubakar Shehu unopposed as the new state chairman of the association. Others elected alongside Shehu are Ahmad Abdullahi as the state vice chairman, Rabiat Umar as the state Treasurer and Balarabe Tanimu as the state auditor I of the association.

Others include Zahra Abdullahi as auditor II, Shehu Umar Hiliya as the state financial secretary as well as Malam Nura Bala as the state Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the association.
