Take education seriously, Osun commissioner implores Muslims

Published by

OSUN State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Ajibola Basiru, has charged Muslims to take education seriously.

Basiru, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Osun Central Senatorial District, made the plea at an interactive forum with the Joint Muslim Action Forum (JOMAF) in the state.

The commissioner lamented that many Muslims lacked education and this was denying them opportunities in and outside of government.

He emphasised the need for the faithful to go into politics, the success of which he also hinged on the acquisition of sound education.

Basiru noted that for Muslims to be worthy of good elective positions and appointments, sound education is key.

The politician decried the rate at which local and global media give scathing editorials and news analysis on Islam and Muslims and stressed the need for Muslim youths to embrace journalism as much as they have taken interest in legal practice.

Earlier in his opening remark, the state chairman of JOMAF, Alhaji Kola Usamat, described Basiru as a visionary and reliable politician who has proven himself as a worthy ambassador of Islam.

Usamat assured Basiru of JOMAF’s support for his success in next year’s general election.
