Symington says US ready to assist Nigeria

The United States’ Ambassador to Nigeria Mr Symington Stuart has said that his Country is ready to assist Nigeria in the aspect of education, economy, health and security.

He made this known in a while on a working visit to Zamfara state as part of his familiarization tour to states in Nigeria.

The ambassador who met with the governor of the state, Alhaji Abdulazeez Yari at his  Talata Mafara residence expressed delight over the warm reception accorded him by the Governor and the people of the state.

The Ambassador said he was in Zamfara state as part of his familiarization tour to Nigerian states to have wider knowledge and understanding of the states.

He said issues of mutual understanding and benefits to the people of the two countries were discussed during the one day visit.

Mr Symington reiterated the US commitment to assist Nigeria and Zamfara state in particular, in the areas of education, health, economy and security.

Responding, Governor Yari thanked him for the visit and expressed his government readiness and determination to cooperate with the United States government in areas of mutual interest and benefits to the people of the two countries.

Yari who is also the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum Chairman said issues concerning education, health, economy and security are vital to the growth and development of Zamfara state in particular and Nigeria in general, and will create synergy through which the government of Zamfara state and that of the United States would be working together for the benefit of their people.
