Sydani Group, NGO synergise to tackle climate change’s impact on mental health

Published by

Amidst the high-stakes discussions at COP28 on climate change, Mental Health with Ditty Foundation (MHWDF) and Sydani Group have emerged as beacons of collaboration, ushering in a new era of holistic solutions that bridge the gap between environmental concerns and mental well-being.

The partnership, officially sealed at the Sydani Group headquarters in Abuja, brought together the expertise and resources of two influential organisations dedicated to effecting positive change.

Signifying a shared commitment to addressing the mental health ramifications of climate change, the collaboration is poised to make a significant impact on global discussions surrounding these interconnected issues.

As a testament to their dedication, MHWDF is hosting a special side event at COP28 UAE, generously sponsored by Sydani Group. This event will provide a platform for experts, advocates, and policymakers to engage in crucial conversations about the intricate relationship between climate change and mental health.

One of the highlights of the side event is the launch of two pioneering initiatives. “Mental Health Resilience” aims to equip communities with the tools and strategies to navigate the mental health challenges posed by climate change.

The second initiative, “Psychological and Emotional Well-being for Women and Youths,” underscores a commitment to addressing the unique vulnerabilities faced by women and youths in the context of climate change impacts.

Adedotun Esan, Founder and Chief Advocate of Mental Health with Ditty Foundation, expressed excitement about the potential impact of the collaboration. “By acknowledging and addressing the mental health dimensions of climate change, we hope to contribute meaningfully to building resilient and healthier communities worldwide,” she remarked.

Sydani Group’s managing partner, Sidney Sampson, added, “The synergy between our organisations allows us to tackle this multifaceted issue head-on. By incorporating mental health into our sustainability initiatives, we can create a more comprehensive and inclusive approach to addressing the challenges posed by climate change.”

As the world grapples with the far-reaching consequences of climate change, the MHWDF and Sydani Group collaboration serves as a beacon of hope, signalling a commitment to holistic solutions that prioritise both environmental and mental well-being.

The COP28 side event stands as a testament to their shared vision and determination to create a sustainable and resilient future for all.
