The Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN), Ibadan Chapter, marked the end of 2024 with an inspiring and vibrant end-of-year get-together on Saturday, December 21, 2024. The event, held at the Ibadan Entrepreneur Network, Awolowo Road, Bodija, Ibadan, brought together a blend of professionals, dignitaries, and members to celebrate achievements, promote camaraderie, and plan for the future.
The occasion was honoured by the presence of several distinguished personalities, including members of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Ibadan Chapter, led by her Chairperson, Engr. Abisola Adabanija. In her remarks, Engr. Adabanija emphasized the importance of collaboration between APWEN and SWAN, noting that partnerships between professional women’s groups would drive collective success and societal impact.
Also, in attendance was Mr. Olugbenga Olumide Akinbowale, FCA, the husband of the Chairperson of SWAN Ibadan Chapter, Mrs. Sileola Akinbowale. In his remarks, Mr Olumide commended SWAN for creating a platform that empowers women accountants. He advised members to be supportive of their spouses, noting that a strong family foundation often contributes to professional success.
Mr. Adetunji Adepeju, FCA, in his remarks, praised the SWAN Ibadan Chapter for its commitment to fostering professional excellence and creating a supportive network for women accountants. He encouraged members to continue being role models in their profession and to leverage opportunities for personal and collective growth.
A revered past Chairman of Ibadan & District Society of ICAN, Prince Oyedepo Oyebade, FCA, advised members to uphold integrity and avoid corruption, emphasizing that trust and accountability are the bedrock of the accounting profession.
Alhaji Quadri Ayuba, FCA, a revered past Chairman of the Ibadan & District Society of ICAN encouraged personal development, self-care, and care for others, urging members to find a balance between their professional lives and their well-being.
Dr Temitope Babajide, FCA, the immediate past Chairman of Ibadan & District Society of ICAN and past Chairperson of SWAN, Ibadan Chapter. stressed the need for continuous self-improvement, urging members to stay competitive and innovative in their field.
Mrs. Olabimpe Ajayi, FCA, the Deputy Vice Chairman of Ibadan & District Society of ICAN and past Chairperson of SWAN, Ibadan Chapter emphasized self-care, she encouraged members of maintaining good health and work-life balance which is essential for sustained success.
A significant highlight of the event was the unveiling of the 2025 SWAN Ibadan Chapter calendar. The calendar, which showcases the chapter’s milestones and key activities, was launched amid much enthusiasm. Guests and members received copies, with many commending the chapter for its creativity and professionalism in producing such a valuable resource.
In addition to the formal proceedings, the event featured engaging games and activities that fostered bonding and relaxation among members and guests. The lively participation added fun and excitement, creating a balance between the professional discussions and the celebratory atmosphere.
The Chairperson of SWAN Ibadan Chapter, Mrs Sileola Adebusola Akinbowale, FCA, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all attendees for their support and contributions throughout the year. She highlighted the chapter’s accomplishments and reiterated plans for the upcoming medical outreach program in February 2025, calling on members and guests to support this impactful initiative.
The event concluded with a blend of joy, reflection, and optimism. Music, dance, and refreshments complemented the day’s activities, leaving attendees in high spirits and inspired for the year ahead.
The 2024 SWAN Ibadan Chapter end-of-year get-together was not just a celebration but a demonstration of unity, professionalism, and shared purpose. It was a memorable occasion that set the stage for greater achievements in the coming year.
