Suspected ritualists kill 80 year old woman in Ondo

Barely two weeks after the killing of a 50-year-old in Akoko area of Ondo state, another 80-year-old woman, Mrs kajusla Mogaji, was on Friday morning found dead in her house with her breasts removed.

Mogaji was gruesomely murdered in lmo quarters in Arigidi Akoko, in the Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo state, by some suspected ritualists who removed her two breasts.

The lifeless body of the octogenarian who was said to be the only occupant of the house as at the time of the incident was discovered by her neighbours in the early hour of Friday.

Apart from removing the two breast of the old woman, her assailants also smashed her head with an object and she was found in the pool of her blood.

According to a source, who said it is apparent that the suspected ritualists carried out the act in the early hour as the octogenarian chewing stick was found beside her.

The source said, there were no traces of how the woman was dragged out of her house but her head was smashed with an object before her breasts were clinically removed by the assailants.

He explained that the criminals were able to carry out the killing of the mother of five because they knew other occupants of the house had traveled saying ” it was easy for them to carry out the killing because there was no one at home with mama”

The source who described Madam Mogaji, who is a member of the Anglican church as an easy going old woman was the rate of killing in the area has been worrisome in the last few months.

Speaking on the death of her mother, one of the deceased daughter, Mrs. Kehinde Adewumi, described the killing of her mother as an act of wickedness

Adewumi, an official in one of the local government in the state, called the security agents in the state to unravel those behind the killing of her mother.

A younger brother of the deceased, Mr. Vincent Sunday, a retired civil servant described her late sister as God-fearing and peaceful person and could not imagine the reason behind her attack and killing.

The Divisional Police Officer for Okeagbe Akoko, SP Ibitayo Adetanranmi who visited the scene of the incident with his team described the killing of the old woman as unfortunate.

The remains of the woman were removed by the security agents and deposited at the morgue of the  Ikare State Specialist Hospital in Ikare Akoko.

Adetanranmi however, assured that police will get to the route of the matter, saying the perpetrators of the act will not go unpunished, saying investigation has commenced into the incident immediately.

It will be recalled that no fewer than six women had been killed in the area in a similar way, with their breast, tongues and private parts removed.
