A middle-aged man suspected to be a kidnapper has abducted a 12-year-old girl, Abibat Saani, in Ofosu- Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The suspect whose identity remained unknown was said to have lured the 12-year-old girl who was hawking groundnut in the neighbourhood out of the area on the pretence to buy groundnut.
Speaking on the disappearance of her daughter, Mrs Aishat Sanni explained that, Abibat went out to hawk on that fateful day but never returned home.
According to her, Abibat sent somebody home to inform me to prepare more groundnuts after a man on a motorcycle approached her that they needed groundnut at a place.
“He told her there was a ceremony at the next street called “Olobesere”, where they needed groundnut.
“The man told her to send somebody home to tell me to prepare more groundnuts and my daughter followed him.
“It was the woman who my daughter sent home that informed us that one Okada man took her away and since then we have been looking for her.”
She, however, said the incident was reported at the office of the Amotekun Corps in Ofosu and also reported at Ore police station.
“They swung into action immediately only for them to find the tray of the groundnut with few groundnuts on the ground inside a bush at Agric, along Ore. but she was no where to be found”
She said residents of the community no longer visit their farms over fear of being kidnapped, saying the wife of the community head in the area was abducted, raped and killed by her abductors inside the bush.
Aishat said the security operatives have assured the family that the little girl would be rescued while the perpetrators will be brought to book but lamented that “It’s been more than twelve days now, we’ve been looking for girl.”
The Public Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Tee Leo Ikoro however, said the incident was not reported at the station.
