Suspected hoodlums have attacked the spokesman of the Niger State command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), DSC Ibrahim Rabiu Muti while returning from work on Friday.

The incident occurred at about 8:00 pm around Federal Housing Estate Gbeganu in the Chanchaga local government area of the state and within the Minna metropolis, where he was said to have been stabbed twice in his stomach.

When contacted, Muti, confirmed the incident in an interview by telephone on Sunday to Tribune Online in Minna, highlighting that about 9 of the criminals attacked him inside a commercial tricycle after being stopped by two persons with the pretence of boarding the tricycle and suddenly, adding that they came out of the nearby bush.

He said that he was stabbed with a knife, and they took away his phone and other valuables, stressing that while searching one of the hoodlums discovered his uniform trousers and notified other gang members that “he is a uniform personnel (man), he is a soldier” and abandoned him in a pool of his own blood, with injuries.

Muti added that it was his uniform trouser that saved him, noting that other passengers had dropped before the ugly incident and remaining only him with the commercial tricycle operator before the incident occurred, saying, “they were carrying knives, cutlasses, dagger and sticks (gorra).”

He has been discharged from the hospital where he was taken for first aid treatment and he is presently responding to treatment accordingly.
