Suspected cultists kill graduate in Kogi

A graduate, Charles Olusegun Ajayi, popularly known as MC Gold, was on Monday killed by suspected cultists in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Ajayi, a graduate of management from the Kogi State University, Anyigba, was a talented master of ceremony (MC), who had hosted and anchored several shows during his undergraduate years at the university.

He was allegedly murdered by cultists around 12:00 a.m. on Monday.

A source told the Nigerian Tribune that Ajayi, alongside his friend, Sunrich Aiyedogbon and two others were attacked at their residence in 200 Units, Lokoja, by suspected cultists numbering about 15.

Ajayi’s body was butchered with cutlass and axe, while his friends sustained serious injuries in the attack.

The case was reported to the police and investigation is currently ongoing.

Ajayi who is survived by parents, brother and sister were buried on Tuesday at the Lokongoma cemetery in Lokoja.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones, has urged all heads of institutions in the state to intensify action in eradicating cultism in schools as directed by Governor Yahaya Bello.

The commissioner gave the charge at the maiden meeting he held with education stakeholders in Lokoja.
