Suspected cultists kill 20-year-old boy in Lagos

A 20-year-old boy was brutally murdered over the weekend by gunmen suspected to be cultists in the Okokomaiko area of Lagos State.

The tragic incident occurred on Abeokuta Street in Amukoko, leaving residents in shock and confusion.

According to sources, the attackers relentlessly pursued the victim through the streets before cornering him and riddling his body with bullets. Witnesses said the boy was shot multiple times in the head, stomach, legs, and hands, leaving him lifeless on the scene.

The Lagos State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to Nigerian Tribune. He stated that the police had launched an investigation and were actively tracking down the perpetrators.

“On 6/9/2024, at about 21:30 hours, four unidentified gunmen were seen chasing a young man in the area,” Hundeyin reported. “They shot him multiple times in the head, stomach, and legs until he died. After the attack, the assailants abandoned the corpse and fled.”

The boy’s distraught mother, who was present at the scene and identified as Vivian, informed the police that they lived together with the deceased.

The body of the slain boy has been taken to the morgue, and the police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing gunmen.
