Suspected cultists allegedly kill young graduate in Benue

A law graduate of Benue State University, Makurdi, Adzua Defence was Tuesday night shot dead by suspected cult members in the capital city.

The incident, according to sources occurred at Gyado villa street in Makurdi.

It was gathered that the late law graduate was, into modelling in Lagos and had come home since Christmas break and had planned to travel back to Lagos yesterday (Wednesday) when he was shot in the head.

He was said to have been rushed to the State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi where he died.

The killing, according to an eyewitness who did not want to be mentioned almost lead to a protest before policemen brought the situation under control.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said that the planned protest by some students was stopped by policemen

“I can confirm the report, though we are still waiting for more details from the station. But we (police) had to move around the area yesterday (Tuesday) to stop the planned protest,” Anene said.
