Surulere bye-election: INEC declares APC candidate, Fuad Laguda winner

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Fuad Kayode Laguda, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the Surulere Federal Constituency 1 bye-election winner.

The election took place in six wards of the council area.

The Returning Officer of the election, Professor Ladipo Adebayo of the University of Lagos, announced that APC candidate Mr. Fuad Kayode Laguda polled 11,203 votes, defeating the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Mr. Jerry Afemighie, who scored votes, while the Labour Party candidate, Adeola Adebanjo, scored 240 votes.

The total votes cast were eleven thousand nine hundred, and the rejected votes amounted to one hundred and thirty-eight votes.
