The Secretary to the Government of Benue State, Prof. Joseph Alakali, has expressed that the victory of the state governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, at the Supreme Court marks the end of distractions.
Prof. Alakali assured the people of the state that they can expect greater achievements under Governor Alia’s leadership and called on them to have faith in the governor and the state.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Philip Salemkaan, Prof. Alakala congratulated Governor Alia on his victory at the apex court, stating that the ruling will enable the governor to focus on governance for the benefit of the Benue people.
The SSG emphasized that the resolution of the election litigation is a testament to the strength of Nigeria’s democracy.
He urged Hon. Titus Uba, the Peoples Democratic Party Candidate in the last Governorship election, to cooperate with Governor Alia in advancing the state’s development.
Prof. Alakala called on political stakeholders to prioritize good governance over political affiliations and make constructive contributions when needed.
The statement further read, “Now that the unnecessary distraction is over, it’s time for full work. No more court. Our politicians and all relevant stakeholders are strongly enjoined to prioritize the interest of the Benue people by cooperating with Gov. Hyacinth Alia Phd in moving the state forward.”
Prof. Alakala appealed to politicians to prioritise the interests of Benue, emphasizing that the state is greater than any individual. He expressed confidence in a brighter future for Benue under Governor Alia’s leadership, urging everyone to endure present challenges for future pleasures. Prof. Alakala concluded, “Gov. Alia will succeed, Benue will be greater.”
