Supreme Court affirms Alia’s election as Benue gov

The Supreme Court affirmed, on Monday, the concurrent judgments of the Benue State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which upheld the election of Hyacinth Alia as the governor of Benue state.

In a lead judgment on Monday, the apex court dismissed the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate in the Benue governorship election, Titus Uba.

The Supreme Court’s decision was in response to the appeal against the judgments of the Tribunal and the Court of Appeal, both of which sat in Abuja and affirmed Ali’s election.

Not satisfied with the judgments, Uba sought redress from the apex court.
