A non-profit organisation, SupportiFly, commenced its Ramadan feeding project on Thursday in Delta by serving Iftar to 100 indigent fasting Muslims.
This was done in order to ease the struggles of indigent Muslims who are fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.
The NGO over time has committed to giving back to the community especially to the underprivileged in the society.
Speaking on the project, the Executive Director, Haishah Bolarinwa, explained that Muslims were to eat right after staying hours fasting and SupportiFly was going to help indigent Muslims eat healthy.
She said: “We started this project in order to make Muslims who are indigent feel they’re remembered during Ramadan. On a normal day, many of them struggle to eat daily and having to fast with that, it’s a great challenge and we choose to mitigate that and give them what would make them feel they’re part of us.”
She also stated that the project was going to go around to different states in the country.
“Today it is Delta, we plan to replicate this in Oyo, Lagos and other places if God wills but the plan is to feed 3000 indigent Muslims during this holy month. We strongly believe that everyone should be able to eat healthy as they commit to Allah in fasting,” Bolarinwa added.
Bolarinwa stated that it was important that well meaning individuals in the society make most of the month of Ramadan in doing good for others in order to maximise the rewards.
