A new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ebonyi State, Francis Nnadi, has urged the people to support the command in its efforts to protect lives and property.
He made this statement at the command headquarters in Abakaliki, the state capital while taking over from the former commandant, Dr Willie Etim, who was deployed to another state.
Nnadi described his posting to Ebonyi State as a new dawn and vowed to combat crime and criminality in the region. He assured the Ebonyi State government of his command’s readiness to achieve lasting peace and secure lives.
“My predecessor has passed through Ebonyi with some legacies, and I will also leave my mark here. I am someone who doesn’t believe that anything is impossible,” he said.
“In the security architecture of this country, we have come of age. I will stop at nothing to ensure that Ebonyi is safe. All hands must be on deck to make things happen.
“I am here to hit the ground running and to continue from where my predecessor left off. Our primary mandate is the protection of lives and property, which is fundamental.
“The federal government has given us the authority to oversee the critical infrastructure of the federal, state, and local governments. I am here to ensure that these goals are met. We are also here to assist the state government in achieving reasonable peace and securing lives.
“As the NSCDC, we are civil in most of our activities. I assure the people of Ebonyi that my arrival marks the beginning of a new dawn. I am available around the clock to attend to the security needs of the state,” Nnadi stated.
In handing over to Nnadi, Etim described the new commandant as an experienced officer and expressed confidence in his ability to perform.
