Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reiterated calls for Nigerians to be steadfast in their prayers for the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to succeed as the president of the country.
The governor Sanwo-Olu made the call while speaking at a Special Birthday Prayers and Thanksgiving to mark the 71st Birthday Ceremony of Asiwaju Tinubu held at the Lagos State Secretariat Community Central Mosque, Alausa-Ikeja.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the event by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, stated that no leader had the intention to fail but upon assumption into office, they were overwhelmed by the challenges and unexpected issues.
The governor, therefore, sought the continuous prayers of Nigerians that the president-elect be surrounded with good people as Advisers and Aides who had the interest and good of the country and the citizens at heart, not their selfish interest.
Speaking further, Governor Sanwo-Olu disclosed that Tinubu had a lot of good plans for Nigerians and would perform well in office, calling for the support and understanding of Nigerians as the president- elect set to lead the country to greater heights.
“Asiwaju himself is very grateful to Almighty Allah for what He has done for him, my prayer for him is for Allah to be with him, to guide him to achieve those things he desires for this country because he has a lot of plans, I just pray that all those plans will materialize to impact on people and this country positively,” he said.
The governor described Tinubu as a bold and determined man who persevered a lot, adding: “He doesn’t run away from challenges.”
“So he is a man that understands what he needs for a nation to be developed, and I just pray that he will be able to do all those things in his mind for development,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
Earlier in his lecture, the Chief Imam, Alausa Secretariat Community Central, Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Gafar, stated that the gathering was to give thanks to Allah for permitting Asiwaju Tinubu to emerge as the president-elect at the concluded presidential election and for preserving his life to witness his 71st birthday which comes up in the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The National Missioner of the Ansar- ud- deen Society of Nigeria, Sheik AbdurRahman Ahmad, in his remark, charged Nigerians to continually pray for the president-elect that Allah should help him, lead and guide him in the journey.
The Muslim cleric, while noting that the people needed to be supportive by being constructive, truthful and privately correct him and not continually praising him, urged them to acknowledge that Asiwaju Tinubu was not a magician, knowing that the few months ahead may be tough.
He charged them to be tolerant, assuring that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.
