Summer School sponsorship: Osun students laud Omisore on support for education development

The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has been applauded for his philanthropy towards educational development in Osun State.

Omisore, who from 2003 to 2007 was the Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District at the Senate, was commended by students across Osun State, who are beneficiaries of the 2019 Summer School in Ile-Ife, a programme sponsored by Omisore.

The former Senator, had earlier renewed his commitment towards the Summer School being organised annually by the National Ife Descendants Student Association (NIDSA) for the secondary school students in Ile-Ife, during a recent visit of the association to his house in Ike-Ife.

There, he expressed his support for the educational grooming of the students of the town during the long vacation, preparatory to their next class, and also for bonding through extracurricular and sociocultural activities.

The National President of NIDSA, Mr Adesina Adewuyi, during the visit, expressed his appreciation to Omisore as the major sponsor for the yearly Summer School, saying the previous editions of the programme had been of great benefit to students, while he hinted on his association’s desire to increase its tempo for more impact on students.

Omisore, the former chairman of the the Senate Committee on Appropriation, responding, promised the association of his continued support as someone who understands the value of education in community development and a lover of education, who holds two engineering degrees and a postgraduate certificate from Brunel University, U bridge, likewise a PhD in Infrastructure Finance from the International School of Management, Paris, France.

He, thereby, charged the students to be focused, and do away with all form of social vices and be committed to their studies, as the only inheritable legacy for personal development which is an assurance for a rewarding future and national development.

Omisore also counselled the students against investing their time in any form of unserious activities but be interested in reading their books, as according to him, “It is a pity that many don’t read to understand any longer, as reading is the antidote to ignorance,” adding that students should imbibe the reading culture for excellent performance as this is what distinguishes a student out of the multitude.

Prof Alaba Adediwura, who is an adviser to NIDSA, also in attendance commended Omisore for his commitment towards educational development of the younger generations over the years as the best legacy to leave for the future of Nigeria.

Also in attendance during the courtesy visit to Omisore, include the chairman, Ife-Central Local Government, Hon ‘Yera Elugbaju, his counterpart from Ife-Central West LCDA, Hon. Bisi Oladosu, House of Assembly member, Ife Central state onstituency, Hon Taiwo Adebusola and others.
