Sultan urges Sokoto youths to embrace entrepreneurship

Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on youths in the state to key into entrepreneurship and business as against looking for white-collar jobs.

Sultan Abubakar stated this on Saturday in his goodwill message during the one-day capacity-building workshop for members of Sokoto Professional Network.

Represented by the District Head of Gagi, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Jabi, Sultan Abubakar urges the participants to ensure they put the lecture into use.

He said, “Let me call on all our youths to embrace entrepreneurship and be a contributor to the economy of the country and not to expect government to contribute to them.

“In every developed countries, it is the citizens of such countries that contribute to the development and not the other way round,” he added.

Speaking in his remarks, the Chairman of the programme, Alhaji Abdulrahman Musa Bashir, said the workshop is a unique opportunity to come together and find a solution to the risen case of unemployment among youths.j

Abdulrahman, the chairman of Rahmaniya group of companies, who was represented by the Managing Director of the Rahmaniya fertilizer, Mr Satish Sing,  called on the youths especially in the state to engage in things that can build their capacity and improve on their living standards.

The chairman emphasise that even though one may decide to look for a job, but emphasis more attention should be focused on entrepreneurs and not white-collar jobs.

He advised youths to go for a small-scale business to build on as a ladder to greatness in the future. The chairman further said the country is blessed with a lot of natural resources in the country, thereby focusing on business or entrepreneurship is the key to a successful tomorrow.

He however announced the donation of the sum of two million naira to support the program.
In his welcome address, the chairman of the network, Zayyanu Tambari Yabo, assures the participants that the resource persons are all up to the task.

He called on members of the network to ensure they put more focus on the development of their small-scale businesses rather than looking for government jobs which he said may not be easy to come by.
