A middle aged woman simply identified as Medina has been reported dead after she jumped into a well in Oloje compound of Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
The deceased was reported to have left her room at about 4:30 am on Monday without anyone suspecting what she was up to, only for her lifeless body to be found in a well in the morning.
Her body was said to have been discovered by some neighbours who had gone to fetch water from the well.
Shocked by what they saw, the residents, according to sources, raised an alarm which attracted the attention of sympathisers following which her corpse was recovered from the well.
No reason was established for her action but sources close to the family said, the deceased had for some times exhibited traits of someone suffering from “depression”.
The source said “it was as a result of the traits exhibited by the deceased that she was brought to her family compound so that she could be catered for but the worst happened”.
She was said to have been buried same day according to Islamic rites.
When contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, said the matter had not been reported.
