Confirming the sad incident to Tribune Online, Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Oyo State Command, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, said the man who was seen naked, “came to the bank’s branch in Sango and entered the building through its small gate,” as he said “people who saw him thought he was a mad man.”
“It was after he gained entrance into the bank’s premises that he climbed the bank’s mast before the security personnel became aware of his action,” Fadeyi said.
The PPRO informed that “the man had already climbed the mast to its peak, before the people alerted the police, but before anything could be done, though the police responded immediately, the victim had jumped down to the roof of the bank.
“The District Police Officer (DPO) and Fire Service personnel who arrived the scene of the incident were swift to safe the man’s life, but the impact was so much that he crashed through the roof and fell inside the bank.
“The police asked an official of the bank to open the premises, and when they gained entry, he was already bleeding from his mouth and nose, and by the time he was taken to the University College Hospital (UCH), he was confirmed dead on arrival,’’ Fadeyi said.
The PPRO said the corpse had been deposited at the Adeoyo Hospital for autopsy while efforts were on to ascertain his identity.
