GRADUATING students of the Avi-Cenna International School, Lagos, Mr. David Ogburn, has advised graduating students of the school on the need to further develop the necessary skills set to compete in the remainder of the 21st century.
Ogburn made the call during the graduation ceremony of the school, in which over 30 students from five countries across the globe bade farewell to the school where most had spent the last 11 years of their lives.
This year’s graduation theme, ‘The World is Ours’, defines the calibre and the outlook of the school’s graduands who were described by the principal as “an industrious group with a zest for learning new things and a desire to create the best opportunities for themselves.
The representative of the current students of the school, Chiwuike Anyiam-Osigwe, in his speech said the class of 2018 would be sorely missed, but assured them that the students they were leaving behind would hold the fort and make them proud.
He noted that the basketball and debate teams, which have both earned the school several awards, would not be the same without the outgoing set.

She also admonished the current students not to be discouraged by other people’s doubts in their abilities, but to use those doubts as inspiration to be the best. Miss Folaranmi further encouraged them with the self-coined quote: ‘There’s no failure, if you just keep trying’.
A total of 35 graduands received a certificate each from the principal, Mr. Ogburn, as well as a commemorative gift from the school’s chairman, Mr. Darwish Foudeh.
