Ekiti State, burnt police bus
STUDENTS of the College of Health Technology, Otuogidi, in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Wednesday, overpowered police operatives who had arrested two suspected kidnappers of three female students of the institution and set them ablaze.
Spokesman of the Bayelsa State police command, Asinim Butswat, confirmed that students of the institution overpowered the security operatives and burn the kidnappers.
Butswat said the three abducted girls were rescued by a combined team of policemen and members of the vigilance group at 4:25 p.m on Tuesday following a tip-off.
According to the police spokesperson, the combined security team combed the Otuabala forest in the local council area and rescued the female students who were kidnapped on Monday.
“Two suspected kidnappers were arrested and two wooden carved guns that resemble AK-47 rifles were recovered from them, he said.”
Students on Tuesday staged a protest against the abduction of their colleagues.
The protesting students barricaded the Ogbia-Nembe Road and called on security agencies to rescue the abducted ladies.
