Students in Lagos trained on health, career development

No fewer than 500 students were on Wednesday trained by the Slum and Rural Health Initiative (SRHIN) in Lagos.

The event which took place at Kings College, Victoria Island, Lagos was geared towards enlightening the students on their basic healthcare and career/skills development.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Akinmarin, a counsellor, urged the young students to take their academics seriously and ensure that they stay true to their dreams.

“You must take your studies serious because you people are the engineers, doctors, novelists, barristers and the leaders that Nigeria is waiting for,” she said.

Dr Isaac Olufadewa, the One Young World Coordinating Ambassador for West Africa region and founder of Slum and Rural Health Initiative (SRHIN) who took the health session of the training encouraged the students to take their physical, sexual and mental health seriously so that they wouldn’t fall prey to drug abuse, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS among others.

Emmanuel Osinaike, a Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative 2018 Fellow and the Director of Public Relations at SRHIN gave the students a career talk on  Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses and the need for them to take entrepreneurship seriously.
