Student welfare: Presidential aide inspects facilities on varsity campuses

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Hon. Sunday Asefon, has reassured Nigerian students of the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to their welfare on campuses across the country.

Asefon spoke when he paid a working visit to Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, and Ebonyi State University, where he held brief interactions with students and the respective management teams of both institutions.

The students of the two universities were excited, especially with the time taken by Asefon to inspect the security arrangements for students on the campuses, including their accommodation facilities.

He also used the occasion to sensitize the students on the advantages of the newly approved Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), also known as the student loan program of the Federal Government.

Asefon highlighted some of President Tinubu’s plans to reposition the education sector, as well as some achievements so far and those in the pipeline.

He noted that the priority placed on education and youth development by the current administration underscored the commitment of the Federal Government to build a better future for Nigeria.

He appealed to the students to support the government in order to effectively implement some of the policies that would directly benefit them and the larger society, saying “with cooperation, the government would deliver on its promises and plans for students and the education sector.”
